Greetings

Dear athletes, coaches, fans and distinguished guests from around the globe

On behalf of the German Canoe Federation (DKV), it is my great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to the 2026 Canoe Sprint World Cup in Brandenburg an der Havel. We will not only be welcoming the world’s best canoe sprinters, but we will also be placing a special spotlight on Para canoe. Around 1,000 athletes from 50 nations will compete for World Cup points on the historic Beetzsee regatta course and will captivate us with breathtaking performances and thrilling races.

Brandenburg an der Havel is a place that represents canoeing like few others. The regatta course boasts a long history as the venue of numerous national and international competitions and stands as a symbol of the strong traditions and outstanding expertise within German canoeing. Here, once again, the world’s best athletes will compete – not only on the water, but also with the team spirit and passion that make our sport so unique. It is also a place that has shaped legends, such as Birgit Fischer, whose extraordinary achievements continue to inspire generations of canoeists.

The 2026 World Cup marks an important milestone on the path toward the major international events of the coming years. The athletes have prepared tirelessly for this moment and are ready to show us, through exceptional performances, how vibrant and dynamic our sport continues to be.

I am especially delighted that the German Canoe Federation, together with the city and regional regatta team, will host this outstanding event. The region demonstrates not only its deep connection to canoeing, but also the hospitality and enthusiasm we wish to share with the world. The DKV is proud of the quality and dedication of everyone whose commitment and hard work shape the face of our sport.

For me, the World Cup is clearly more than just a competition – it is an invitation to embody the values of sport together: fairness, respect, and the pursuit of excellence. Let us come together as a community and make this event an unforgettable experience for all.

I wish all athletes great success, exciting races, and a memorable time here in Brandenburg. May this World Cup stay with us for a long time to come!
